Why is MAKI?

If the eye is a window into the soul, think of MAKI as a frame for a pair of eyes, or maybe a window? Wait, we were going somewhere with that?

Got it, think of MAKI as a window, with a pair of eyes looking into your soul. Actually, don't do that!

MAKI is a cute, humanoid robot designed with exaggerated, child-like features, to invoke an empathic response from users. MAKI's key feature is it's pair of expressive animatronic eyes, which can be used for non-verbal communication.

MAKI edu is a platform for evoking and expressing empathy, verbally and non-verbally. Designed to be 3D printed and made by you, our goal with MAKI edu was to make research in fields such as Human-Robot Interaction more accessible. To that end, MAKI edu is free to download for non-commercial use and we are constantly working to improve the design.
